I’ve always been drawn to health and fitness. Not just for the physical perks but because it’s pulled me through some of the hardest times. There’s something powerful about pushing your body further than the struggles in your mind. And while this might sound like every other fitness pep talk, I promise I’m not here to be another influencer. I just want to share why good health—real, balanced health—is worth making a top priority. No, this doesn’t mean swearing off donuts forever or saying no to birthday cake. I love my treats as much as anyone. But nothing tastes or feels as good as being truly healthy, and prioritizing that doesn’t just change things for us; it affects everyone around us. Here’s why it’s worth it:
- Your Body is Capable of More Than You Know
The human body is amazing, and I’m not just saying that. As a licensed massage therapist, I studied the ins and outs of anatomy, and I’m constantly in awe of what our bodies are built to do. They’re resilient, adaptable, and capable of so much more than we usually test. Don’t just let that potential sit there; explore what you’re capable of. You’ll be surprised by the strength and endurance hiding under the surface. - Nutrition is About 80% of the Game
You can work out all day, but if you eat poorly, you’ll still feel off. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve told my husband, “I’d feel better if I’d lay off the sugar.” And when I actually do it? Surprise—I do feel better. Eating well doesn’t have to be complicated or all-consuming. Life’s about balance, so have the cake at the party. But prioritize protein and fiber with your meals. Love pasta? Add some protein and veggies. It’s that simple: take what you enjoy and add what you need! - True Health is Inside Out
You can have the “fit” look down, but if your mind’s not right, you’re only halfway there. Life is a mental game that constantly tests your limits. If you don’t work on what’s going on inside, life’s circumstances will end up controlling you. But when you start fixing your mind, you’ll see your life change, and suddenly you’re the one in control. - The Power of a Good Sweat
Sweating is everything it is hyped up to be. You know that rush from watching someone absolutely crush a workout? That’s not just for the “athletes” of the world. Sweating not only feels great but also purges your body of toxins, boosting both health and mood. So train like an athlete, even if it’s just for yourself. You won’t regret it.
Starting a healthy lifestyle is tough, especially when you’re breaking old habits. You’ll feel like quitting. Even after five years of consistent workouts, I still have days where I don’t feel like it. But then I ask myself, “Can I afford not to?” And the answer is always no. My family deserves the best version of me, and I deserve to feel strong and capable. We only get one body—why spend 80 years feeling miserable in it?
Here’s to your health, my friend. We’ll talk again soon—keep pushing forward!
